In the run up to Science Week 2018, we will be talking to many interesting people and companies who will be taking part in Science Week 2018 in addition to giving you teasers about what the learners will be doing during Science Week 2018.
This year’s Science Week 2018 embraces two philosophies – STEAM and Ubuntu.
What is STEAM?
STEAM is Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths.
Innovation is the key to future technologies. By adding arts and design to the traditional STEM practices, STEAM takes STEM to the next level allowing learners to be innovative, creative and experimental, removing the limitations imposed by STEM.
Science Week 2018 strives to give all learners participating the opportunity of engaging in STEAM.
What is Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is the philosophy of a universal bond of sharing that connects all of humanity.
With this philosophy, we would like to deepen the community spirit shared by the DSP, the DSJ, the partner schools taking part, the parent community and business community creating a collaboration of learning by doing, enriching the lives of those taking part and those helping the initiative become a success.
Through STEAM and Ubuntu, we hope that Science Week 2018 will be a great success for all participants!
Yours in STEAM,
