Science Week 2018 – things to come

It is nearly 5 weeks to go to Science Week 2018 and our programme is shaping up nicely. We have some amazing companies coming to the schools to present and do experiments. We also have some amazing speakers coming to such as Adriana Marais who is the Head of Innovation at SAP and also an aspiring extra-terrestrial. Yes, you read it correctly, Adriana is hoping to be selected as one of the astronauts for the Mission to Mars so our learners will have the opportunity of meeting a real live astronaut-in-training. How exciting is that!!! If you have ever dreamed of being an astronaut and would like to find out what it takes to become one, you have the opportunity of asking Adriana questions here at Science Week 2018.

Other exciting projects involve icars. We will have a car from BMW coming for Science Week 2018 giving the learners the opportunity of seeing an icar up close and personal. But why stay on the road. We have Lufthansa coming to give Virtual Reality sessions so eyes on the skies. Moving from large to the small, we will have sessions on looking at DNA – what makes us who we are and why! Keep an eye on our Project Highlights Page which details all the exciting presenters and companies who are taking part in Science Week 2018.

So, if you think you have something awesome that you would like to contribute to our learners under the STEAM banner – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths – get in touch and let us know. After all, perhaps your session will inspire the next astronaut, space station designer, Einstein, car designer of the year or doctor to find the cause for cancer.

Yours in STEAM,

Anne
